I am leaving tomorrow morning for Camp Murray, just north of Fort Lewis. I will be there for approx. the weekend doing processing i.e. dental checkup, immunizations, etc. From there I travel to Ft. McCoy in Wisconsin where my unit is currently doing pre-deployment training. From there, sometime early in October we fly out to Kuwait, and from there to our permanent duty station at Camp Anaconda, approx. 30 miles north of Baghdad. I am now trained and qualified as a Combat Medic, as opposed to a Combat Engineer as I had previously been planning. As such I will be doing a variety of different missions, from patrols to clinical to humanitarian missions amongst the people of Iraq. With luck, I will have internet access where I'm going and be able to keep in touch. If not, I wish the best to everyone.
